Enjoyable, Addictive, Polished, but frustrating.
Its got it all, well, almost. The graphics are simple but work nicely with the game, the sounds are fitting, the music isn't bad, though a selection of loops as opposed to one may have been better, due to its repetitiveness. The monsters are very unique, each one different from the other. Now, I get to the problem...
The game is too damn frustrating. The movement, is very annoying in those 'must dodge laser before it hits me but I haven't started moving' type situations, when your not going back and forth and you need to start moving quick enough to dodge the laser. It doesn't work. Also when your trying to stop from going back and forth you can't simply stop before the laser and most of the time you have to pray to god that your ship brakes before the laser hits it. The damage that the ships do is far too great, 5 hits and your dead. For a game of such, uniqueness (ok, difficulty :P) you should make it at least half as hard as it is now. The moment of which the brown ships shoot isn't shown very clearly, and while you can tell by the brightness of its 'pincers' it isn't clear enough. Now you may be thinking "But why would you want it clear? Then its just too easy!". Well for a game of such swirving and self-control (i.e: it doesn't do what you want it to as much as most games), I think its fair to give the player some warning of when the bad guys are gonna shoot, also the grey guys don't even give a warning! They are even stronger than the brown guys too! Oh well, I've said what needs to be said. Sorry for writing so much, just wanted to get it off my chest before I work on my website for a few more hours.. *sigh*. (No it isn't up yet, no you can't have a look, no I won't have your children.)
Anyway, if those problems were fixed, I think this would be perfect, and it would surely be in the Top 50. Otherwise, well its still a fun little game that'll be on the frontpage for a bit. :)
